You Don't Need Social Media
I recently took Facebook off my phone. I have stopped scrolling for more than 30 seconds on Instagram. I removed all app notifications to facilitate concentration during my day and presence with others. I am not perfect, but I am a work in progress.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I want to be someone who is doing and making, not scrolling, and wishing. When I scroll on social media it leaves me feeling bad about myself. It makes me think I'm not doing enough. FauxyFurr is not enough, My life is not enough. My eyebrows are not enough (Damn you 1990s)! Social Media was stealing my creativity and leaving me feeling flat.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Several years ago my brother and I made a pact to help each other restore our cars. We decided rather than talking about the cool things we were going to do together we would just start doing it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He has a '51 Ford, I have a '55 Nash. We started meeting once a week, it's slow progress but forward-moving progress. Our time together fills me up and inspires me to sew and create. It's something I look forward to weekly and something I get to do with my friend. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When is the last time you stopped to think about how much time you spent today scrolling? I was finding myself losing 30 minutes at a time, several times a day. Those minutes add up to hours pretty fast. Removing the temptation of social media from my phone has helped me curve my addiction. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We choose daily, we can choose differently tomorrow. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

PS. This photo was taken in 2016. My brother showed up to help Jill and I finish our trailer build-out. It was one of those projects that required all of our friends who could read a tape measure.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
